Egbert Jan Weeber (18-06-1981) was born and raised in Groningen, a city in the north of The Netherlands. His aunt got him fascinated with electronic music. She was a regular visitor of the RoXY regularly and brought him tapes with music from house parties.
At the age of 16
Egbert Jan aspired to be a deejay and especially to make music. However, because of the high level of ‘underground’ in Groningen, he only knew the music, but not the parties. At that moment Graffiti, Hip Hop, Jungle and Break Beat was the sound of Groningen. So he started beat boxing and scratching in a Hip hop group. Coincidence brought him at his first real illegal techno party when he was 17 years old, and from that moment on he was hooked.
At the age of 18
Egbert Jan moved to Amsterdam and started playing at clubs and events like: Dimitri’s Hi Tech Soul Movement, Chemistry, Club NL, Mazzo, Zapclub @ Simplon, Winkel van Sinkel, Supperclub, Paradiso, All is One, Playground, NJOY the festival, Mystery Land, Amsterdam Dance Event, and his international appearance in Gravity (Lithuania). In addition to this, he currently has his own radio show on Radio 3FM.
In 2003
he won the ‘Gouden Kabouter’ Award for best soap-deejay. Even though he has never played in a soap, Egbert Jan is without a doubt the most gifted Dutch actor who can spin records.
His style can vary from electro
to deep-house, but he prefers to play deep melodic techno. At the same time he strives to create a higher, energetic and spiritual form of music, which is also know as celestial. Currently Egbert Jan is busy working on his own productions. His future plans include the release of these productions and to form a unique live act.
