WickedJazzsounds is an Amsterdam based organisation
–where Jazz meets dance-. It brings an eclectic mix of the warmth and essence of Jazz and energy of nowadays dance music. It features DJ’s, live musicians, dancers, VJ’s and a whole lot of people dancing with a smile. It makes you travel a futuristic journey through jazz, hiphop, soul, funk, broken-beat, house, drum & bass and beyond...
WickedJazzsounds is both a community of DJ’s
musicians, dancers, VJ’s and a party organiser. It has performed in the major dutch clubs like Paradiso, Melkweg, Muziekgebouw aan het IJ, 013, Panama, Hotel Arena, Nighttown and many more venues and festivals. It also features the wickedJazzsounds clubnight in the Sugar Factory every sundaynight. WickedJazzsounds was awarded with a ‘Golden Gnome’ (‘gouden kabouter’), being best new initiative in the dutch dance scene in 2003 and was nominated in 2004 for best party on special location and as best growing organisation.
Last year was the breakthrough year
for the organisation. It was the release of the first and well received wickedJazzsounds compilation album on United recordings. And is also the year where wickedJazzsounds made succesful performances at the prestigious summer festivals like North Sea Jazz, IDFA, Supernatural and Lowlands.
2006 looks very promising
with release of the second compilation CD and a sold out release party in the Paradiso in Amsterdam. It is there to make people dance with a smile!
Organisation
WickedJazzsounds is an organisation with a big passion and love for music, a focus on interaction with its visitors, a professional way of working and a lot of ambition. The concept is a flexibel one that varies per location and audience. It can go from a downtempo jazzy live performance to an uptempo floorfilling clubnight. WickedJazzsounds is where live singers and a full band of live musicians play off-and-on together with the DJ.
Because of its experience
both in organising events and in the complex combination of DJ and range live musicians and its deep love for music wickedJazzsounds is prepared for a spectaculair future. WickedJazzsounds is being organised by Phil Horneman and Manne van der Zee since the winter of 2001. Phil Horneman has been using the name wickedJazzsounds since 1998 for a radioshow on local radio. Together they decided to use their years of personal experience and expertiese in nightlife and music to do exactly what they really wanted to do: They started their own wickedJazzsounds-company. From this growing community of musicians and performers came a community of followers that brought it to where it is right now. A burning flame that is ready to take over the world… Dance with a smile!
