New three piece UK girl band CLEA, met just over 3 years ago when auditioning for a music TV show.
After the auditions the girls met up on a regular basis and during one of these meetings they decided that, as they all got along so well and shared the same ideas and dreams, it made sense to form a band.
Choosing a name is always the hard bit and eventually the girls came up with CLEA, which came from the 1st initial of the Christian names of the original FOUR group members, Chloe, Lynsey, Emma and Aimee. In May 2004 however, Chloe decided to leave the band to pursue other interests. The remaining members decided that over their two years in existence they had become ‘CLEA’ and opted to retain the name ongoing.
All the girls have been blessed with stunning good looks, ambition and immense talent, but each is unique in every way imaginable. All are from very different backgrounds and origins:
Aimee (20), from Southport is the youngest member of CLEA. With an infectious giggle she brings lots of girlie fun to the band. She has a smiley and gentle personality, but don’t be fooled by this baby faced member as she is just as tough and determined as the rest of the band. After leaving school her plan was to go to College to study performing arts and media, but by chance heard of TV auditions which made her dream of becoming a ‘popstar’ a reality.
Lynsey (23), from Manchester has a very cheeky and quick witted northern sense of humour. Totally capable of handling any rowdy audience, she should have been a stand up comic! After leaving school with credits in drama and media, she was about to start University and had expected to end up on the other side of the camera, as maybe a film director or similar. Fortunately, family and friends persuaded her, that her talent would be wasted and she met her band mates at her first ever audition.
Emma (22), from Northampton, is described by the girls as the dizziest member of the band. She has a lovely, soft, gentle nature, which hides a steely determination to succeed. With her sultry dark looks and husky voice, she’d always dreamed one day of being a singer. As with Lynsey, she was planning to go to University when fate put her with the rest of the band. After meeting the other girls she knew, with hard work and self belief, this dream could be a reality.
Combined, the three have an amazing energy and charisma.
After touring the UK with support slots to Blue, Lemar and Daniel Bedingfield and doing clubs, radio roadshows and University gigs, CLEA have earned themselves an amazing reputation as a very formidable live act. They were hand selected to play for Prince Albert’s Summer Ball In Monaco and also performed for the ‘Rainbow Trust’ children’s charity.
In September 2005, Clea collaborated with production group Da Playaz to release a single, named We Don't Have To Take Our Clothes Off a dance remake of the Narada Michael Walden song made famous by Jermaine Stewart. This single reached number 35 on the UK charts. Lucky Like That is the bands fourth single and was released in June 2006. The single placed at number 55 on the UK Charts. Trinity, Clea's second album (but first UK album) was released on July 3 on Upside Records, and charted at #258. Lynsey Brown left the band in November 2006.On September 3, 2007, a campaign is to begin to get their single We Don't Have to Take Our Clothes Off back in the charts. This campaign is being set up by their myspace and forum.
