Candy
The group was formed in March 2000 and immediately soared to the top of the Romanian dance charts and took the public by storm. At the time the group was formed, Giulia and Monica were aged 15. The Girls won the Romanian Music award for Most Popular Girl Group and sold over 150,000 copies of their debut album. The subsequent two albums of Candy sold 130,000 and 200,000 units respectively. Most of the music on the Candy albums has been composed by Giulia and Monica although some of Romania’s most important composers have also written for the group.
Turning 18
has not been a trauma for neither Giulia nor Monica. At an age where most girl groups begin to fade away or take a downturn in popularity, the Girls are blossoming to new popularity and new found fans. The next album of Candy already has orders for 30,000 units – something totally unheard of in Romania.
Giulia was born a Scorpio
on November 7th 1984. She made her stage debut at the age of 6 on Romania One’s “Tip Top Minitop” TV show and immediately became a childhood star with over 400 public appearances. Giulia’s album debut was in 1995 and even had her own fan club.
Giulia’s hobbies are writing, the internet and philosophy.
Monica was born a Sagitarius
on December 13th 1984. Her musical debut was in 1992 at the tender age of 7. She debuted on the TV show “Seven Enchanted Notes” and rapidly she realized that she was destined for a musical career. Monica continued singing in various child festivals around Romania and in the year 2000 she joined Giulia and the musical phenomena Candy was transformed into a confirmed reality.
Monica’s hobbies are reading and the cartoon character “Tweety”
